You have choices when it comes to getting your car repaired.
It is in your best interest to pick a shop whose technicians are certified and trained to the highest level possible.
ASE – Automotive technicians who proudly wear the blue and white ASE insignia are certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence . The Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) line of certifications are the industry standard for determining the skill of auto mechanics. Receiving a certification requires that the technician pay for and take a computer-based exam at an approved testing location. The Core 8 ASE is divided into vehicle types (cars, trucks, buses) and secondary systems. These tests cover the broadest range of comprehensive automobile care for a modern technician. For each vehicle type, there are eight core certifications that satisfy the minimum knowledge for maintenance and repair. ASE is now widely recognized as the industry standard.
AAA Approved Auto Repair – AAA approved auto repair – The AAA Approved Auto Repair program was established back in 1975 to address one of the most frequent consumer complaints they kept recieving, unsatisfactory automobile repairs. AAA Service Specialists perform stringent reviews of each facility on a regular basis. All AAA Service Specialists have an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification, along with an extensive background in automotive service in order to address the following:
- Inspection of the facility for cleanliness and proper tools
- Verification of adequate technical training and appropriate technician certifications
- Service Satisfaction Survey of facility customers to obtain their opinions on how well the facility meets their automotive service needs
- Insurance and financial background checks
STAR Test & Repair Certified – The Bureau of Automotive repair has a smog certification known as STAR certified. STAR certified smog centers can perform smog inspections and the ones which are “test and repair” stations can also do repairs needed to fix a vehicle which cannot pass inspection. These smog stations are known as STAR Test & Repair stations. Both STAR stations are allowed to perform regular and STAR smog checks.
