History of E.A.T. – Now Celebrating 29 Years
Jim Tisch started Escondido Auto Tech in April of 1988. Escondido Auto Tech was quickly knicknamed E.A.T., by a growing loyal customer base. Starting out as a small two technician shop, E.A.T. grew along with the Escondido community. Then in 1998, Jim purchased the land under E.A.T. and began the transformation that has brought us to the state of the art facility of today. Not only did Jim expand the building but completely remodeled the entire facility. Jim’s goal has always been to have the finest independent repair facility in North County. In keeping with that goal to be the best, E.A.T. has always hired the top, most experienced technicians and management in the industry. Furthermore, with the aquisition of the most up to date equipment and ongoing education and training E.A.T. is the facility you want to bring your vehicle and refer your friends to.
Jim was born in Glendale, Ca. and spent his childhood growing up in West Covina. He graduated from West Covina High School and attended Cal Poly University. Jim worked for Advance Speed and Marine as a manager as his first job and that led to his interest in both cars and boats (mostly fast ones). He moved to Escondido in 1975 and began working for Jacobson tire until opening Escondido Auto Tech in 1988. His love of the water has led to a purchase of a house on the island of Roatan, which is off the coast of Honduras where he loves to scuba dive on vacations. His other passion is riding his BMW motorcycle either with friends or alone on various adventures throughout the land.
Frank Caratachea was born in Phoenix Az. His family moved to the Imperial Valley in 1975. In High School his passion for the automotive field was sparked and has continued to grow to this day. Frank has been with Escondido Auto Tech since 1995 and has grown with the company. Frank Married Marie Tietjen in 1999. They have one daughter Breanna Lynn who is a Graduate of Escondido High School and now forging ahead with her life in La Quinta. He and his wife Marie are members of Grace Lutheran Church in Escondido where they are active in several areas of Ministry. Frank’s wife Marie works for Lexus Kearny mesa. They both enjoy going to the desert, cooking and spending time with friends and family. Frank’s other favorite thing is grilling and using his smoker for various tasty meats and other foods…….
Ole Danielson was born in Ortonville Minnesota. His father was a farmer and mechanic. Ole’s family moved to California in 1964. Ole began playing trumpet at age 10 and was accepted to the California Junior Philharmonic Orchestra and the Rio Hondo Youth Symphony at age 13. While in high school he pursued his interest in electronics and music. Upon graduation Ole began his career in auto repair. Ole studied automotive computer systems and became an ASE Master Tech. and Smog technician. His expertise in the automotive field and computers led to his role as a subject matter expert in the development of interactive technician training for several major auto manufacturers. Ole now works for Escondido Auto tech as their lead diagnostic technician. Ole’s wife Irene is a homemaker and they enjoy camping and hiking with their children and grandchildren. Ole’s other interests include amateur photography, beekeeping, and antique car restoration.
Born in San Diego, Steve moved to Escondido in 1989. Steve had a passion for the automobile for as long as he can remember. Steve likes anything fast with a lot of horsepower. Steve began studies in high school and after graduation began his automotive repair career. Steve has a “Brady Bunch” family that consists of his beautiful wife, two daughters and two stepsons spend most of their free time in the desert playing with their numerous toys and enjoying their friends with a big barbeque. Steve started at Escondido Auto Tech in August of 2013 and says he instantly felt at home and enjoys being part of the E.A.T. family.
Jorge “Jorge” was born in Tecate, Baja California Mexico. He and his family moved to Pauma Valley when he was eight years old. He graduated high school in Pauma Valley. Having an interest in cars he choose the automotive industry as his career. Being in the industry has allowed him to enjoy his passion for fast cars of which he has a few he considers projects. He is bilingual, speaking both fluent Spanish and English and has experience in both customer service and parts sales. George spends his free time with his family on the family farm and working on his project cars.
Rob was born in Santa Monica, CA and grew up in North County San Diego. His hobbies include vintage motorcycles, cars and boats. He enjoys BBQ and old movies with Laura, his wife of 28 years. In the summer he travels to the river, and in winter spends time in the desert. Rob is an ASE Certified Master and Advanced Level diagnostic tech with 30_ years automotive and diesel truck experience. He is receiving his Smog Test and Repair Certification shortly.
