Major / Minor Engine Repairs
Major engine repairs can be an involved process. The motor has two sections, one upper (the heads) and the other lower (the block). Both sections are bolted together with a gasket(s) in between..
A majority of the time upper part of the motor is repaired. Sometimes the lower portion of the motor needs repair. Major engine work may also require removing the entire engine from the vehicle, and rebuilding or replacing internal components (e.g. pistons, connecting rods, valves). What to look for Our most common major engine repairs are replacement of head gaskets, timing chains and valves. Some of the major engine repairs that we see are related to gasket failures. Repairs such as cylinder head or intake manifold gasket repairs are well within the scope of major repairs we perform.

- Or Engine Replacement
A “top end” rebuild only includes grinding of the valves and seats and replacement of the head gasket. May not be a wise decision, because if the rings and bearings are bad, at it at the least may not help, and at the worst, may destroy the engine (due to higher compression/power with bad bearings).
A “bottom end” rebuild is where the major reciprocating parts of the engine are serviced or replaced. If it becomes necessary to do an engine replacement, we can order and install a crate motor, or order a factory equivalent re-manufactured motor with a long warranty.
